Q: What is RADIESSE®?
A: RADIESSE® is an injectable dermal filler FDA-approved for the correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, also called smile lines, which run from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth.
Q: What is RADIESSE® made from?
A: RADIESSE is made of tiny calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. The calcium microspheres are similar to minerals found naturally in the body so allergy testing is not required.
Q: How does RADIESSE® work?
A: RADIESSE, a unique calcium based filler, is injected under the skin through a fine needle during a procedure done by a health care provider. Immediately, the filler works to add volume and may instantly hide the signs of wrinkles and creases for a more refreshed look. Individual results may vary.
Over time, the benefts of RADIESSE continue by stimulating your own natural collagen, providing additional structure after the initial effects of RADIESSE have diminished. The treatment’s results are both immediate and long-lasting, providing wrinkle relief for up to a year or more in many patients. RADIESSE is a viable option for smoothing wrinkles and folds.
Q: Where can RADIESSE® be injected?
A: RADIESSE is an injectable dermal filler FDA-approved for the correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds.
- Smile lines: also called the nasolabial folds, these are the lines which run from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth.
- Marionette lines: the lines that run downward from the corners of the mouth.
- Corners of the mouth: also called the oral commissure, if these are turned downward it can make you look as though you’re frowning.
- Pre-Jowl fold: the area on either side of the chin, where skin can sag due to loss of facial volume
- Chin wrinkles: also called the mental crease is the horizontal wrinkle below the bottom lip. Talk to you physician to see if RADIESSE is right for you.
Q: What makes RADIESSE® different from other leading dermal fillers?
A: RADIESSE is the only dermal filler available composed of calcium-based microspheres. In clinical studies comparing RADIESSE to the leading hyaluronic acid injectable fillers, RADIESSE proved to be statistically more effective at treating wrinkles, preferred by patients, and delivered higher patient satisfaction.
Q: How is treatment with RADIESSE® performed? Is it painful?
A: RADIESSE is injected under the skin in a quick procedure that can be done over the lunch hour. RADIESSE is also FDA-approved to mix with lidocaine (an anesthetic), which means the procedure can be much more comfortable. In fact, in a clinical study, 90% of patients treated reported significant pain reduction when injected with RADIESSE mixed with lidocaine.
Q: What were the key clinical findings?
A: In clinical studies comparing RADIESSE to leading hyaluronic acid injectable fillers, RADIESSE proved to be statistically more effective at treating wrinkles, preferred by patients, and delivered higher patient satisfaction.
Q: How soon will I see results with RADIESSE®, and how long will they last?
A: RADIESSE® is injected by your health care provider through a fine needle and placed under the skin. Immediately, the filler works to add volume and may instantly hide the signs of wrinkles and creases.
